Overview
About the Position: This position is with the Directorate of Surgery, Otorhinolaryngology Clinic located at Tripler Army Medical Center, Hawaii, which is on the Island of Oahu, Hawaii. Tripler Army Medical Center is a tobacco-free workplace. Tobacco products include, but are not limited to, smoking, smokeless tobacco, and electronic nicotine delivery devices.
Duties- Operate various medical equipment used to examine/treat patients that requires ability to adjust many varied patient situations, such as microscopes, setting up endoscopic equipment.
- Perform a variety of otolaryngology tests such as intradermal allergy testing.
- Screen patients and determines initial testing to be done according to written guidelines.
- Perform, administer and apply chemical peel/cosmetic treatments.
- Provide professional nursing care to patients in the clinic and assists physicians in carrying out treatments and procedures.
- Assist in training the otolaryngology clinic enlisted staff and otolaryngology clinic technicians.
- Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
- This position has specific initial background investigation and periodic re-verification requirements since its duties require interaction with children and youth under the age of eighteen (18) years of age on a recurring basis.
- This position is a Testing Designated Position (TDP) subject to a pre-employment drug screening, and random testing thereafter, to include testing based on reasonable suspicion and testing due to direct involvement with an on-duty accident.
- Position is Mission Essential. In the event of severe weather conditions or other such emergency type situations (natural or man-made disaster) the incumbent is required to report to work or remain at work as scheduled to support mission operations.
- Applicants must be able to fulfill credentialing requirements and obtain and maintain appropriate/relevant clinical privileges.
- Immunization screening is required. Hepatitis B immunization is required for all positions with direct patient contact. Applicants may be required to show proof of other immunizations depending on the type of position.
- All Health Care Providers must be able to obtain and maintain current Basic Life Support (BLS) training and certification that is sponsored or endorsed by the American Heart Association (AHA).
- A pre-placement medical examination is required.
- Appointment to this position is subject to a one-year probationary period unless the appointee has previously met the requirements as described in 5 CFR Part 315.
- This position has a mandatory seasonal influenza vaccination requirement and is subject to annual vaccination.
- This position has a requirement to lift up to 45 lbs. in the regular performance of duties.
