Position: Advanced Practice Provider - Ortho Trauma Service (Full Time 40, Day/Night Rotator)

Advanced Practice Provider - Ortho Trauma Service (Full Time 40, Day/Night Rotator) 156500 Job Summary / Responsibilities

A medical provider who treats, diagnoses, prescribes, and/or performs or assists in surgical procedures. Licensed healthcare professionals, credentialed and privileged through the Medical Staff Office. Works collaboratively with physicians and the care team across hospital and clinics to create seamless care. Serves as part of the development and implementation of patient care protocols, health care research, interdisciplinary consulting, and patient advocacy.

APRN

Responsibilities
  • Functions as an expert practitioner with educator, consultant, researcher, and leadership roles; works autonomously and collaboratively to enhance quality of nursing practice and patient care.
  • Provides health care including health promotion, disease prevention, diagnosis and management of acute and chronic diseases.
  • Direct patient care: obtain patient history, perform focused or complete physical examination, order, conduct and interpret diagnostic and laboratory tests, perform procedures, educate patients and families, manage social, economic and ethical issues within scope.
  • Indirect patient care: set standards for nursing practice and facilitate professional nursing practice at the bedside.
PA Responsibilities
  • Certified by board to practice medicine with physician supervision; performs duties delegated by supervising physician.
  • Under supervision of a physician, functions as an expert practitioner providing health promotion, disease prevention, diagnosis and management of acute and chronic disease.
  • Direct patient care: obtain patient histories, perform complete or focused physical examination, order, conduct and interpret diagnostic and laboratory tests, perform various diagnostic and/or therapeutic procedures within scope and licensure.
  • Provides patient and family education and manages social, economic, and ethical issues within scope of care.
Typical Physical Demands
  • Finger dexterity, seeing, hearing, speaking.
  • Continuous: sitting, static gripping of an object for prolonged periods.
  • Frequent: walking.
  • Occasional: standing, stooping/bending, climbing stairs, walking on uneven ground, lifting and carrying usual weight of 1 pound up to 5 pounds, reaching above, at and below shoulder level, frequent gripping of an object.
Typical Working Conditions
  • Not substantially subjected to adverse environmental conditions.
  • May be exposed to communicable disease and body fluids, and chemicals.
  • May be required to deal with hostile patients and/or families.
Minimum Qualifications Education/Certification and Licensure
  • Current Hawaii State license as an APRN or Physician Assistant in good standing.
  • If licensed as an APRN, specialty board certification aligned with area of assignment is required.
  • Depending on area of assignment, prescriptive authority for non-controlled and controlled substances may be required.
  • Depending on area of assignment, additional certification(s) may be required.
  • Credentialing and privileging required if providing medical level of care.
  • Current BLS certification.
Experience
  • If licensed as an APRN, two (2) years nursing experience or successful completion of an APRN Fellowship Program for any APRN position.
  • One (1) year of clinical experience working as an APRN or Physician Assistant preferred.
Additional Requirements Education/Certification and Licensure
  • Current board certification in one (1) of the following:
    • Clinical Nurse Specialist (CNS)
    • Adult Geriatric Acute Care Nurse Practitioner (AGACNP)
    • Adult Clinical Nurse Specialist (ACNS)
    • Critical Care Nurse Specialist (CCNS)
    • Prescriptive authority for controlled substances required.
    • Current ACLS certification.
    • Current PALS certification.

Base salary $ per year.
