Over 1,500 employees and more than 630 physicians provide specialty care at Kapi'olani. The hospital is home to the Kapi'olani Women's Center and the Women's Cancer Center, and offers numerous community programs and services, such as specialty pediatric clinics, the Kapi'olani Child Protection Center and the Sex Abuse Treatment Center.
The Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU) provides comprehensive, family-oriented care for all young patients to optimize health and well-being. The department provides clinical intervention to the pediatric patient requiring intensive care or advanced pediatric (step down) care, while simultaneously supporting patients and families through the Intensive Care experience. Services are available for pediatric patients with the most acute medical requirements, including the risk of organ failure and those who require continuous monitoring such as life support therapy, invasive monitoring and other critical care measures..
This opportunity is for the experienced registered nurse who would like to transition to a new area of specialty or for the new graduate nurse who would like to pursue becoming a Pediatric Intensive Care nurse. This program is designed to create an environment which provides the experienced and new nurse support through the transition process from student, to novice, to advanced beginner, to independent practitioner.
The program will be 20 weeks in duration and will require a two-year work commitment upon successful completion. There will be no time away (PTO) allowed or granted during the program. Participants must be available for rotation to night shift and any shift length (4, 8, 10 or 12 hours) for the duration of the training.

Current Hawai'i Registered Nurse license. Current American Heart Association Health Care Provider Basic Life Support (BLS) card.
