Role Description
The Neuro Interventional Nurse Practitioner is a full-time, on-site role based in Honolulu, HI. This role provides advanced practice care to patients undergoing neuro interventional procedures, including assessment, diagnosis, treatment planning, and follow-up in collaboration with physicians and the interdisciplinary team. Day-to-day responsibilities include conducting comprehensive neurological assessments, ordering and interpreting diagnostic tests, assisting with pre-, intra-, and post-procedure patient management, and responding to changes in patient status in acute and critical care settings.
The Nurse Practitioner will educate patients and families about conditions, procedures, medications, and post-procedure care, and contribute to care coordination across inpatient, outpatient, and emergency settings. The role also participates in quality improvement initiatives, adheres to evidence-based protocols, and supports education and training for staff and learners in the neuro interventional service.
- Current, unrestricted Nurse Practitioner license (or eligibility) in the state of Hawaiʻi, with appropriate national board certification (e.g., AGACNP, FNP, or equivalent) and current BLS and ACLS certifications.
- Clinical experience in neurology, neuro interventional radiology, neurosurgery, critical care, or a related acute care specialty, preferably in a hospital setting.
- Demonstrated competency in advanced patient assessment, diagnostic reasoning, and development of evidence-based treatment plans for patients with complex neurological conditions.
- Strong skills in interdisciplinary collaboration, including effective communication with physicians, nurses, therapists, technologists, and ancillary staff in high-acuity environments.
- Proficiency in using electronic health records, documentation systems, and clinical decision support tools to ensure accurate and timely patient records.
- Ability to educate and support patients and families with clear, compassionate communication about diagnoses, procedures, risks, and care plans.
- Commitment to culturally sensitive care that reflects the values and diversity of Hawaiʻi’s communities, including respect for local cultures and traditions.
- Master’s or Doctoral degree in Nursing from an accredited program; prior experience in neuro interventional or stroke services is highly desirable.
- Demonstrated commitment to professional development, quality improvement, patient safety, and adherence to regulatory and institutional policies.
