Registered Nurse (RN) - Chemotherapy

Casual Part-Time (Req# ) 8-hour day shifts, 16 hours per week

Applies the nursing process through assessment, formulating nursing diagnosis, planning, implementing, documenting and evaluating plans of care for patients receiving chemotherapy as an inpatient or outpatient, or patients having apheresis or other special procedures performed within the department. Responsible for following established standards of nursing practice as delineated by the Medical Center. Works collaboratively with ancillary nursing personnel, and promotes teamwork among all members of the healthcare team.

Graduate from an accredited school of nursing with current Registered Nurse licensure in the State of Hawaii required. Minimum two (2) years’ experience in oncology or medical/surgical nursing required. Oncology nursing certification desirable. Certification by Kuakini Medical Center in intravenous therapy required; or any combination of education and experience which would provide the necessary knowledge, skills and abilities to meet the minimum qualifications to perform the essential functions of this position.

Must successfully complete orientation period of 3-6 weeks, including attendance at all mandatory safety in services and on-the-job training for apheresis, chemotherapy administration and other special procedures.

Basic Life Support (BLS), Level C required, with retraining once every two years.
