Registered Nurse Ii, Iv, V

Registered Nurse position in the Department of Health, providing clinical and public health nursing care in hospitals, clinics, and community settings.

• Provide direct and indirect nursing care to patients in various clinical settings, including obstetrics, pediatrics, surgery, orthopedics, outpatient, geriatrics, and others.
• Perform public health nursing duties such as case finding, follow‑through, health guidance, teaching, and liaison with community services.
• Plan, organize, and coordinate community or institutional educational and consultative services in specific nursing areas.
• Advance nursing programs, policies, and procedures, and supervise subordinate nursing and clerical personnel.

• License to practice as a registered nurse in the State of Hawaii.
• Professional work experience as a registered nurse:
  • Level II – 0 years, Level III – 6 months, Level IV – 1 year 6 months, Level V – 2 years 6 months.
  • Public health nursing positions require experience equivalent to the levels listed.
• For Levels IV and V, one year of comparable experience as a supervisor of nurses responsible for patient care or public health nursing services.
• For Level VI, one year of experience comparable to Level V or two years of experience comparable to Level IV, with demonstrated administrative aptitude.
• Administrative aptitude demonstrated through leadership, planning, and management experience.

Selective certification may be required for certain duties. Eligibility is based on proven experience and training pertinent to the position.
