Responsibilities
  • Provide direct, evidence-based nursing care to oncology inpatients, including administration of chemotherapy and supportive therapies per protocol
  • Monitor patient status continuously, manage infusion therapy, assess labs and vital signs, and respond to adverse events or infusion reactions
  • Collaborate with physicians, pharmacists, and the broader care team to develop and implement individualized care plans
  • Document assessments, interventions, and outcomes accurately in the electronic health record; ensure correct medication administration and reconciliation
  • Educate patients and families about treatment regimens, potential side effects, safety considerations, and discharge planning
  • Maintain compliance with infection control, safety standards, and unit policies; may be assigned to nursing assistant or safety sitter duties if RN coverage is not needed on the unit
Requirements
  • Active Hawaii RN license (unencumbered) required to apply
  • BSN preferred; graduation from an accredited nursing program
  • Minimum 2 years of inpatient oncology RN experience, including inpatient chemotherapy administration

    Current BLS (Health Care Provider) and chemotherapy certification required
  • Inpatient chemotherapy administration experience highly preferred; OCN, ACLS, CPI, NIHSS strongly desired
  • Ability to work in a hospital setting with 12-hour rotating shifts and meet the guaranteed hours
