Kaiser Permanente is seeking a Nurse Practitioner for Gastroenterology to provide advanced nursing care at the Mapunapuna Medical Offices in Honolulu, Hawaii. In this role, you will assess, plan, and implement appropriate health and nursing care for patients while performing registered nursing functions and directing nursing care provided by other personnel.
Responsibilities- Evaluate physical and psychosocial health status through comprehensive health history and physical examination using observation, inspection, palpation, percussion, and auscultation
- Assess normal and abnormal findings from history, physical examination, and diagnostic reports
- Diagnose patients’ health status and health care issues
- Oversee and direct nursing, medical, and clerical personnel in provision of patient care
- Plan, implement, and evaluate care for patients
- Consult with patients, support systems, and members of the health care team to provide acute and ongoing health care or referral
- Manage plan of care prescribed for patients
- Initiate and maintain accurate records, appropriate legal documents, and other health and nursing care reports
- Develop individualized teaching plans with patients based on health needs
- Counsel individuals, families, and groups about health, illness, and health maintenance
- Recognize, develop, and implement professional and community educational programs related to health care
- Participate in periodic and joint evaluation of services rendered
- Conduct research and analyze health needs of individuals and populations; design programs targeting at-risk groups
- Participate in policy analysis and development of new policy initiatives in the area of practice specialty
- Contribute to development, maintenance, and change of health care delivery systems to improve quality and consumer access
- Incorporate the KP Nursing Vision, Model, and Values throughout nursing practice
- May perform patient care to the extent necessary to maintain clinical expertise, competency, and licensing
- Perform other duties as assigned
- Master's degree in nursing in relevant field of specialty
- Advanced Practice Registered Nurse License (Hawaii)
- Registered Nurse License (Hawaii)
- National Provider Identifier required at hire
- Basic Life Support from American Heart Association
- Nurse Practitioner National Certificate
- Demonstrated knowledge of and skill in customer service, conflict resolution, counseling, problem solving, decision making, oral communication, written communication, interpersonal relations, adaptability, change management, results orientation, and teamwork
- Nurse Practitioner experience in specialty area
- Demonstrated knowledge of word processing, spreadsheet, and database PC applications
- Valid Hawaii APRN Recognition with Prescriptive Authority (must meet education requirements for Hawaii state APRN prescriptive authority)
- Full-time, regular position
- 40 hours per week
- Monday through Friday
- 8:30 AM to 5:00 PM
- Day shift
- Travel required approximately 10% of the time
