ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES AND FUNCTIONS
- Provide direct patient care in accordance with nursing standards and hospital policies.
- Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate patient care plans.
- Administer medications and treatments as prescribed by physicians.
- Placement of IV access, monitoring IV & venous access devices, medication administration and monitoring, including oral therapies, injections (IM, SQ & ), and infusions.
- Obtain blood samples from venous access devices or via phlebotomy.
- Monitor patient progress and document observations in medical records.
- Collaborate with physicians, specialists, and other healthcare professionals.
- Maintain accurate patient documentation and ensure HIPAA compliance.
- Assist with patient registration and appointments.
- Respond promptly to emergency situations using appropriate nursing interventions.
- Follow infection control and safety procedures at all times.
- Complies with all legal requirements and company policies.
- Maintains patient/participant confidentiality at all times.
- Flexibility to work extended hours and occasional weekends.
Minimum:
- Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited four (4) year college or university in Nursing. (Associate’s Degree from an accredited community college in Nursing with at least two (2) years of professional experience in health sector may substitute for a Bachelor’s Degree.)
- Must possess a State of Hawai‘i RN license
- Current BLS CPR Certification
Preferred:
- Master’s Degree from an accredited college or university in Nursing.
Minimum:
- One year of experience as a Registered Nurse (RN).
Preferred:
- Experience working in an outpatient setting
- Experience, competence, and comfortable using an EMR for charting and communicating with other staff and patients.
Minimum:
- Competent in administration of medications and monitoring including oral therapies, injections and infusions.
- Demonstrated knowledge in Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) training.
- Knowledge of and experience with computers and software programs, including word-processing, spreadsheets, and database.
- Strong and effective written and verbal communication skills.
Preferred:
- Comfortable in IV placement and phlebotomy
- Able to perform and EKG test
