Engineering Technician Trainee

About the Position

At Freeport‑Mc Mo Ran  you will work in Bagdad, Arizona, where duties include sampling operations, coordination with sampler technicians, quality control, sample transport, equipment maintenance, and other related tasks in a safe and supportive environment.

• Assist in identifying drill holes that require sampling.
• Coordinate work schedule with dispatch, drilling and blasting teams.
• Obtain representative samples according to established SOPs.
• Ensure samples are taken from equally spaced locations, meet minimum weight, and are correctly labeled and documented.
• Perform duplicate sampling and accurately label duplicate samples.
• Transport and deliver samples to the assay laboratory promptly.
• Mark material zones (ore, waste, leach) in the field as required.
• Verify that sampling equipment is functional and properly operated.
• Clean sampling equipment after each use.
• Execute other duties as assigned.

• No experience required.
• Ability to develop and maintain awareness of occupational hazards and safety precautions.
• Skilled in following safety practices and recognizing hazards.
• Effective oral and written communication skills.
• Knowledge of site processes, equipment, and infrastructure.
• Proficiency with various computer software applications, especially Microsoft Office.

• High School diploma or GED.
• Experience in a relevant field.
• Soil or rock sampling experience.
• Experience operating mobile equipment.
• Valid state driver’s license.
• Ability to lift, handle, load, and stack up to 50 lbs.
• Operation of hand or power tools.
• Experience performing equipment and workplace safety inspections.
• Ability to work outdoors in ambient weather conditions.
• Basic computer skills.
• Well organized and self‑motivated.

• Must understand and apply verbal and written work and safety instructions in English.
• Must communicate in English regarding job assignments and safety standards.
• Must work in potentially stressful environments.
• Valid driver’s license required.
• Outdoor, mine or manufacturing plant setting with exposure to extreme temperatures, humidity, moving mechanical parts, electrical shock, toxic chemicals, explosives, fumes or airborne particles.
• Regular standing, sitting, manual dexterity, stair and ladder use, talking, hearing, and seeing required.
• Ability to lift moderately heavy to heavy objects up to 50 lbs frequently during the workday.
• Personal protective equipment mandatory: hard hat, hearing protection, safety glasses, safety footwear, respirator, rubber steel‑toe boots, protective clothing, gloves, and other required gear.
