Position: MEASUREMENT STANDARDS INSPECTOR II - KALIHI, OAHU (OHHI)

Salary: $3,900 to $4,933 per month (SR‑13, Step C to I). Hiring rates based on availability of funds, applicant's qualifications, and other relevant factors.

Responsibilities

The Measurement Standards Inspectors enforce the State's measurement standards program, ensuring equity in all commercial transactions involving quantity determinations. They apply laws, rules, regulations, policies, procedures and guidelines pertaining to weights and measures, packaging and labeling, and petroleum products. The Measurement Standards Inspector II is an advanced trainee level and receives formal and on‑the‑job training to develop deeper understanding of the State's measurement standards program, specifications, tolerances and technical requirements for commercial measurement devices.

Qualifications
  • Legal Authorization to Work: Candidates must be citizens, nationals or permanent resident aliens of the United States, or eligible under federal law for unrestricted employment in the United States.
  • Basic Education/

    Experience:

    High‑school graduation with coursework in basic algebra and English, or one year of work experience that demonstrates the ability to read, comprehend and apply technical material of average difficulty; express oneself orally clearly and directly; perform mathematical processes, including ratios, percentages, solving equations; and prepare written reports of activities.
  • Specialized

    Experience:

    One (1) year of technical work experience inspecting and testing weighing and measuring devices, and examining packages for conformance with measurement standards, specifications, tolerances, or other requirements. At least one year of the experience must be comparable in difficulty, scope and depth to the work experience of a Measurement Standards Inspector II in State service.
  • Substitutions: Relevant substitutions described in the Minimum Qualification Requirements may apply.
  • Special Requirements:
    • Valid driver’s license at time of appointment.
    • Ability to lift and carry objects weighing up to 50 pounds unassisted, and 75 pounds with assistance or equipment.
