This position is temporary; renewal of appointment is dependent on satisfactory performance, program needs, availability of funds, and meeting the eligibility requirements of the assistantship (for details, go to the UHM Graduate Division website Eligibility & Criteria | Graduate Division (hawaii.edu).

Duties and Responsibilities

1. Performs various research activities, including qualitative and quantitative data collection and analysis, evaluation reporting, and research.
2. Provides support in presenting data and evaluation findings.
3. Provides support with HPOKANHPoL strategic planning efforts.
4. Coordinates and assists with office programming.
5. Other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

1. Acceptance or enrollment in a Masters or PhD program at the UH Manoa campus in good academic standing, if currently enrolled, 3.0 GPA or above and making appropriate progress toward degree. Pursuing a degree in Education, Psychology, Communications, Library and Information Sciences, Hawaiian Studies, Social Work, Urban and Regional Planning, or related field.
2. Attention to detail and ability to manage several tasks.
3. Ability to maintain databases, proficient with basic computer software and hardware, such as Word, Excel, PowerPoint, PowerBI, Wordpress, Canva, Zoom, Google, and Zotero.
4. Demonstrated ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships.
5. Previous experience collecting and/or analyzing qualitative or quantitative data.

Desirable Qualifications

1. Experience with olelo Hawaii
2. Experience working in Native Hawaiian programs or communities
3. Experience in reporting writing and with a citation style (i.e., APA, MLA, Chicago, etc.)
