POSITION OVERVIEWThe Sushi Associate is responsible for providing customers with outstanding service through friendly, quick, efficient, accurate and safe assistance in the Sushi Department.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS- Assists the Manager in meeting the sales and profit projections of the store through the making of sushi and following company policies and procedures.
- Works various shifts or days as assigned based on company’s business needs.
- Ensures sushi is prepared, handled, stocked, rotated and merchandised for best results.
- Safely operates department equipment including knife, appliances, wrapper, sushi equipment.
- Maintains a knife grip to cut fish or other seafood to specification.
- Can withstand long periods in a working environment of 40°F or more.
- Meets productivity standards as set by the company.
- Uses in-store computer system and scanning equipment.
- Weighs, prices, labels, organizes and rotates sushi products per company standards.
- Assists customers with special requests and questions regarding the sushi department.
- Supports any promotional activity within the store and department.
- Maintains good communication with store management, associates and outside contacts.
- Other tasks as assigned by Manager.
- Position is non‑exempt and may require additional hours and different shifts due to vacation, sick calls, inventory or special events.
- Complies with all health and OSHA requirements.
- Other tasks as assigned by the respective Division Manager.

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE
- High School diploma or GED required. Minimum 2‑4 years of work experience in a grocery chain or retail establishment preferred.
- Preferred experience in a similar retail or restaurant environment.
- High degree of prioritization and accountability; strong positive attitude.
Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general procedures or regulations related to grocery establishments. Communicates effectively in English, both verbally and in writing; interacts with all levels of management.
LICENSES- Food handling license.
- Fast‑paced, demanding and/or stressful.
- Ambient warehouse temperature; may be exposed to dry, chill or frozen environment.
- Moderate noise level; exposure to lift truck horns and dock activity.
- Lift/Carry constantly 10 lbs. or less.
- Walk constantly 11‑20 lbs.
- Sit occasionally 21‑50 lbs.
- Handling/Fingering constantly 51‑100 lbs.
- Reach outward constantly over 100 lbs.
- Climb occasionally 12 lbs. or less.
- Crawl occasionally 13‑25 lbs.
- Squat or kneel occasionally 26‑40 lbs.
- Bend occasionally 41‑100 lbs.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
- Vision: near, distance, color, peripheral, depth perception.
- Sense of sound: hearing verbal communication and alarms.
