OverviewJoin our team as a Sales Clerk Leader serving the brave men and women of the military and their families. In this dynamic role, you’ll lead a team to provide exceptional customer service, assist with product selection, and ensure a smooth shopping experience for customers.
Responsibilities- Welcome customers, maintain product knowledge, and assist with merchandise selection.
- Respond promptly to customer concerns with professionalism.
- Provide outstanding customer service assisting patrons in selecting goods or substitute items.
- Oversee overall operations of the sales department, including ordering merchandise, receiving, pricing, and monitoring stock levels.
- Coordinate price changes, markdowns, promotional sets, and signage with store management.
- Communicate directly with headquarters staff for special order requests or merchandise issues.
- Assist store management in training employees on all cash register and front‑end duties, and provide input on employee evaluations.
- Operate cash register; accept cash, personal checks, credit cards, prepare, verify, and issue change funds as required.
- Collect cash receipts, prepare cash register tapes, checks, credit card receipts, and other supporting documentation.
- Reconcile register tapes with the Daily Activity Report, investigate discrepancies, and maintain cash overage and shortage records.
- Control and secure change fund, safe, and cash registers.
- Open and close the store as required.
- Supervise other employees and assume overall store responsibility in the absence of management.
- Follow all policies regarding loss prevention, shrink awareness, and the Alert Line.
- Adhere to all established safety standards and emergency preparedness requirements.
- Work weekends and perform other related duties as assigned.
- Minimum:
Prior retail experience in inventory control and retail sales. - Must routinely lift 10 pounds and occasionally lift 25 pounds; stand for long periods.
- Preferred:
Experience operating a cash register and knowledge of sales inventory. - Preferred:
Prior retail supervisory experience in the performance of the above duties. - Preferred:
Current USCG NAF sales clerk with at least 6 months experience at a USCG NAF.
