Job Summary
The Store Manager directs the activities of the retail thrift store and production floor to ensure maximum revenues, effectiveness and profitability, and is accountable for customer satisfaction and employee morale. The role involves developing, training and leading the Retail Team, meeting or exceeding assigned goals in production, sales, and income, and creating and maintaining the store schedule with job responsibilities/assignments. The Store Manager supervises staff to meet daily production and sales goals, maintains merchandise organization, customer service, and a clean retail setting, and reports directly to the Maui County Coordinator / Kahului Corps Officer.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities- Drive an increase in annual store remittance while managing operational expenses based on the fiscal year budget goals.
- Maintain and post weekly goal projections/actual sales revenue.
- Communicate objectives clearly to staff and volunteers.
- Lead, coach, and mentor the store team to achieve goals and standards.
- Supervise and coach all staff in compliance with directives, dress policy, purchasing procedures, cell phone use, timecard reporting, etc.
- Maintain appropriate staffing levels, interview and hire new employees with the Coordinator, and foster a high‑performance team environment.
- Provide ongoing training on store policies and procedures for all personnel.
- Hold monthly staff meetings, document notes, and share summaries with the Coordinator.
- Submit annual employee reviews in proper format and administer disciplinary action as needed.
- Ensure safe operation of TSA property, enforce safety policies, and report accidents and hazards.
- Achieve daily production goals and monitor employee hours and expenses.
- Handle store sales income daily, manage cash, charge, check, voucher transactions, and document daily sales reports.
- Ensure production runs during prescribed hours, be cross‑trained, and cover shifts during busy periods.
- Delegate seasonal shopping arrangements and maintain merchandise availability.
- Apply standard sales practices for clothing tagging, pricing, discounting, and disposal.
- Attend manager meetings and conferences, communicate updates to personnel.
- Maintain safety measures, report hazards to the Director of Retail Operations.
- Protect property with a proactive maintenance program and report issues to the Coordinator.
- Perform other duties as assigned, including vehicle management.
- Ensure safety, cleanliness, maintenance of the sales floor, production area, building, vehicles, and restrooms.
- Conduct monthly safety inspections in accordance with Salvation Army Policy, notifying the Coordinator of deficiencies.
- Maintain department supply inventory lists and request replacements as needed.
- Ensure staff greet and treat all customers courteously.
- Guarantee all staff are treated fairly and respectfully.
- Handle customer complaints professionally and report them timely.
- Two years of supervisory experience in a retail environment with at least three staff.
- Knowledge of sales, cash controls, accounting, and cashier procedures.
- Proficiency with POS, cash register systems.

- Availability to work both Friday and Saturday.
- General knowledge of business protocols, confidentiality.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Word and Excel;
PowerPoint preferred. - Experience with Microsoft Publisher, Organization Chart, Lotus Notes, POS software, NCR Silver, and new software programs.
- Ability to research online and access cloud data storage systems.
