Job Description

The ideal Designated Selling Associate (DSA) Salesperson is passionate about fashion, enjoys working one-on-one with customers, and thrives in a sales environment.

• Set and achieve sales goals for both in-store and digital selling, including use of selling tools (text, social media) and reservations.
• Build lasting customer relationships and provide the best service on their terms.
• Give honest and confident feedback to customers about style, fit, and the value the piece will bring to their wardrobe.
• Seek product knowledge through meetings and trainings to build expertise.
• Conduct DSA‑run product knowledge meetings with peers and surrounding departments.
• Provide valid product feedback to Department Manager to improve assortments.
• Drive predictable business through appointment‑based selling during event and non‑event time frames.
• Work with the team to keep the department customer‑ready: stocking, re‑merchandising, display, price markdowns, merchandise transfers, and cleaning.
• Grow sales by opening new Nordstrom Rewards program accounts.

• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to establish rapport with customers.
• Ability to excel in a competitive team environment.
• Ability to prioritize multiple tasks in a fast‑paced environment.
• Ability to work a flexible schedule based on business needs.
• Ability to read sales reporting in relation to goals.
• Understand how to educate customers on new and emerging brands, suggesting what will work for them.
• Confidence with high/low price points and ability to showcase the value of the item within a full wardrobe.
• Strong understanding of a customer’s holistic wardrobe and style, with organization to follow up strategically.

• Continuous movement for 6‑8 hours per shift with frequent bending, twisting, squatting, flexing, and reaching.
• Frequent use of hands for grasping, fine manipulation, pushing, and pulling.
• Handle bulky and awkwardly shaped items, lifting above head when needed.
• Regular lift of items up to 10 pounds and occasionally up to 25 pounds.

$17.40 per hour. Commission varies:
Apparel, shoes, and accessories typically 3% to 14.5%;
Beauty and men’s fragrance 3%.
