Customer Service Representative – Torrance, CA

Howmet Fastening Systems (HFS), part of Howmet Aerospace, seeks a Customer Service Representative in Torrance, CA. The role performs customer service duties in accordance with department and company objectives, acting as a liaison between customers and the company to facilitate sales and resolution of account or service problems.

• Daily interaction with customers: prepare and manage quotes, perform data entry, and follow up on customer orders.
• Handle customer complaints professionally and timely to ensure satisfaction.
• Train and mentor other CSRs on daily activities including RFQs and proper formatting.
• Process strategic quotes for RFQs and work directly with Product Managers, Buyers, and Account Managers.
• Act as liaison between customers and internal departments such as Shipping, Planning, Engineering, and Quality.
• Prepare and coordinate large spreadsheets/LTAs for the Customer Support team.
• Accept orders, book them to applicable locations, and manage item master updates, cancellations, reschedules, and quantity changes.
• Perform contract review and follow all sales procedures as required.
• Maintain organized sales files containing purchase orders, sales orders, changes, notices, and correspondence.
• Handle initial rejected parts or paperwork, coordinate with Quality, and issue RMAs when necessary.
• Work with Howmet Credit on past dues invoices or short pays and initiate credit/debit memos as required.
• Obtain product knowledge of HFS offerings, including conversions, substitutions, and competitor products.
• Occasionally visit assigned customers with coordination of Account Manager and Team Leader.
• Understand customer terms, conditions, long‑term agreements, and related contract language.
• Support other department team members in their absence when required.
• Work independently with minimum supervision, managing a fast‑paced environment and stressful situations.
• Maintain excellent organization and time‑management skills.

• At least 3 years of customer service or sales experience, preferably in a manufacturing environment.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
• Typing speed of 50+ words per minute.
• Familiarity with HFS systems (COP, CPQ, GCS) preferred.
• Fluency in reading, writing, and understanding English.
• Strong problem‑solving, organizational, and time‑management skills.
• Knowledge of distributor accounts and distributor agreements and procedures.
• Legal authorization to work in the United States; verification of employment eligibility required at hire.
• Position involves access to export‑controlled items; applicant must be able to lawfully obtain such access.
• Visa sponsorship is not available.

• Salary range: $50,000 to $60,000.
