Job Summary
Entry trainee level in the Biosecurity Inspector series, designed to provide a career-oriented introduction to the background, philosophy, concepts, scope and interrelationships of the State’s plant and non‑domestic animal quarantine and pest control programs.
Salary$4,243 per month (SR‑16, Step
D)
Applicants must be willing and able to work rotating shifts, including evenings, weekends and holidays.
ResponsibilitiesPerform other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications- Legal Authorization to Work: Must be a citizen, national, or permanent resident of the United States, or otherwise authorized for unrestricted employment.
- Education:
- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited four‑year college or university in one of the following areas:
- Agricultural, Landscape, or Integrated Pest Management;
Entomology;
Horticulture;
Nematology;
Plant and Environmental Protection Science;
Plant Pathology;
Tropical Agriculture and the Environment; or Tropical Plant and Soil Science. - Biological or Agricultural Science with coursework in:
- One course in entomology, nematology, pest management, plant and environmental protection science, plant pathology, tropical agriculture and the environment, virology, or related courses.
- One course in agroecology, agronomy, botany, horticulture, plant physiology, tropical plant and soil science, weed science, or related courses.
- Agricultural, Landscape, or Integrated Pest Management;
- Demonstrated ability to write clear and comprehensive reports, read and interpret complex written material, perform basic arithmetic, and solve complex problems logically and systematically.
- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited four‑year college or university in one of the following areas:
- Driver’s License: Must possess a valid driver’s license at the time of appointment.
- Special Physical Requirement: Must be able to lift and carry objects weighing up to 40 pounds unassisted.
