Job Title
Ecological Risk Assessor
Job LocationRemote / Flexible (in‑office or remote)
Job OverviewAECOM is seeking an experienced and motivated full‑time Ecological Risk Assessor to become an integrated member of AECOM’s risk assessment and remediation practices.
Responsibilities- Support a wide range of projects for private and government clients throughout the U.S. (and internationally).
- Perform and review ecological risk assessments in accordance with regulatory guidance and project‑specific work plans.
- Develop Risk Assessment Work Plans and contribute to Sampling and Analysis Plans / Quality Assurance Project Plans.
- Coordinate with internal project teams, including delegating to junior staff.
- Prepare technical deliverables, including writing reports and performing/reviewing risk assessment calculations.
- Contribute to proposals and business development, including developing scopes of work and cost estimates for ecological risk assessment.
- Mentor and develop more junior staff.
- Maintain knowledge of federal and state regulations / guidance documents for conducting risk assessments.
- Maintain work quality, quantity, and efficiency at or above company standards.
- Perform occasional field work as needed.
- BA/BS degree in Ecotoxicology, Ecology, Zoology, Environmental Science/Studies, Chemistry, Toxicology, Biology or other related area AND 6+ years of experience performing ecological risk assessments in an environmental consulting setting, or demonstrated equivalence of education and experience.
- US Citizenship is required.
- Valid Driver’s License and ability to pass AECOM’s Motor Vehicle Records review and background check.
- Master’s or PhD degree in a related field.
- Applied knowledge of USEPA guidance for conducting ecological risk assessment.
- Excellent technical writing and communication skills.
- Experience conducting food web/bioaccumulation assessments.
- Experience performing data analysis and applied statistics.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Word.
- Experience evaluating PFAS, PCBs, and lead.
- CERCLA experience with Remedial Investigations, Feasibility Studies, and ROD development.
- Site investigation, field sampling, and wildlife assessment experience.
- Experience working on Navy or Department of Defense projects.
- Experience dealing with the Hawaii Department of Health and EPA Region 9.
- Experience working with projects in Hawaii, Guam and other Pacific Islands.
- Preferred work location:
Hawaii. - Experience performing wildlife assessments.
Offered rate of compensation will be based on individual education, qualifications, experience, and work location. The range for this position is $80,000 to $100,000.
