Job DescriptionAs a Airport Law Enforcement Officer - Armed Patrol in Honolulu, HI
, you will safeguard the airport, staff, and its facilities. You will conduct routine patrols, remain highly visible, and deliver outstanding customer service and communication to all visitors and staff. This role offers the opportunity to contribute to a secure environment while working as part of a dedicated team that values agility, reliability, and integrity.
Position Type:
Full Time - Overnight
Pay Rate: $28.86 / Hour with an hourly bonus of $3.58
. Premium paid shall be based on the position actually worked.
Job Schedule:
Mon 11:30 PM – 08:00 AM;
Fri 11:30 PM – 08:00 AM;
Sat 11:30 PM – 08:00 AM;
Sun 11:30 PM – 08:00 AM
All applicants must meet the following criteria:
- 2+ years of professional law enforcement experience in the U.S. after graduating from a certified law enforcement academy (Federal, State, or County level)
- Graduate of Law Enforcement or Military Police Training Program or Equivalent (must provide credentials upon applying)
- Valid Driver's License
- Law Enforcement Officer License
- 22+ years of age
The basic qualifications listed below are representative of the relevant knowledge, skills, and/or experience required to be hired. These are the minimum requirements for success in this role.
Formal Education, Licenses, And CertificationsApplicant must complete one of the following approved programs:
- Certified State law enforcement recruit training
- Certified County law enforcement recruit training
- Federal law enforcement training
- Programs approved by the Director
- Minimum qualifications for LEO include:
- No felony convictions or certain prohibitions; valid driver’s license required for driving positions
- Must be able to supervise Contractor's personnel and work effectively with airport management, tenants, other law enforcement agencies and the public on matters relating to security disputes, complaints on performance, conduct or behavior of subordinate employees
- No record of moral turpitude, domestic violence, untruthfulness, or mental or emotional disorders that may interfere with performance of duties
- Provide customer service to clients by carrying out security-related procedures, site-specific policies, and, when appropriate, emergency response activities
- Respond to incidents and critical situations in a calm, problem-solving manner
- Exercise sound judgement and render immediate, appropriate decisions under stressful conditions
- Maintain maturity in conduct and attitude
- Take orders, follow instructions, and assume responsibility for actions
- Maintain alertness, attentiveness, and professional conduct; recognize, respond, and take corrective actions to various situations
- Possess strong moral character and high standards of truthfulness
- Communicate effectively in English, both verbally and in writing
- Provide courteous interactions with the public, airport employees, tenants, law enforcement, and security personnel
- LEOs may be required to provide a court appearance for citations issued on behalf of DOTA; contractor shall provide replacement staffing for LEOs required to attend court
- Mentally and emotionally capable of performing all duties; physically able to perform normal or emergency duties requiring moderate to arduous exertion
- Patrolling on foot, standing, climbing stairs, running as needed; able to perform essential physical tasks with or without reasonable accommodation
- Lifting up to 25 lbs.; assist in safe evacuation of individuals
- Subject to a random drug screen and background checks
- Well-groomed and neatly presented as an officially commissioned representative of the State
- Pass a one-time physical examination and periodic drug testing as required
- Correctable vision to 20/30 in each eye with normal color vision; normal hearing (hearing aid permitted for some situations)
