Security Specialist

Description:

• Prepare instructional and training information and conduct training.
• Educate and instruct command personnel in security practices.
• Implement various security‑related training programs for command employees.
• Review records and documents to identify employees who require training (e.g., employees assigned to ADP‑1 and ADP‑2 sensitive positions), and schedule in‑house or other courses.
• Conduct routine and special security briefings, such as Orientation, Annual Training Refresher, Derivative Classification, NATO, Counterintelligence/Insider Threat and other specialized training.
• Conduct debriefings with employees retiring, separating, transferring, or being reassigned.
• Ensure that the command maintains full compliance within its daily, weekly, bi‑weekly, monthly, quarterly, semi‑annual, and annual security program compliance standards.
• Schedule and conduct internal security inspections.
• Manage the daily operation of the Access Control office for access control and badge issuance to staff members and visitors.

• Must be a U.S. Citizen.
• Must be determined suitable for federal employment.
• Must participate in the direct deposit pay program.

• This is a Security Professional Educational Development (SPeD) position and requires DoD certification. Selectee must obtain and maintain certification within prescribed time frames. Certification required is: SFPC and PSC.
• Must obtain and maintain an interim and/or final security clearance prior to entrance on duty. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal.
• MSP/PPP applicants must currently hold the required security clearance.
• Successful completion of a pre‑employment drug test (including marijuana) is required. A tentative offer of employment will be rescinded if you fail to report to the drug test appointment or fail the test.
• Will be subject to random testing.
• This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites.
• You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.
• This position is considered Key/Emergency‑Essential. You will be required to provide immediate and continuing support to ensure the success of combat operations or the availability of combat‑essential systems.
• This is a Mission Essential position. You will be required to ensure organization or facility continuity of operations and/or completion of tasks that are considered essential to the mission designated by a local or command decision.

Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS‑12 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector applying collateral security policies and procedures involving personnel, physical, information, industrial, or operational security programs; identifying security vulnerabilities, recommending corrective actions, and supporting compliance with DoD or SECNAV security requirements;

coordinating with internal or external stakeholders to support classified operations, security initiatives, or implementation of security standards.
