Overview
Performs routine preventive and corrective maintenance and basic adjustments on pre-conditioned air (PCA) units. This position will also be responsible for troubleshooting and repair of the passenger boarding bridge components with focus on PCA units.
Responsibilities- Conduct daily and periodic shift inspections, cleaning, and diagnostics of PCA mechanical/electrical system components based on an established scheduled preventive maintenance program.
- Assist in electrical and mechanical adjustments to PCA units.
- Monitor system operation, diagnose equipment failures, and ensure equipment is running safely and efficiently.
- Perform preventive maintenance on motors, condensation pumps, bearings, filters, dryers, hoses, connectors, drains, and thermostats.
- Dismantle, repair, and reassemble equipment or machines for stock replacement and/or to restore equipment to operational status, using solder and brazing skills.
- Work in tight and/or high spaces using appropriate PPE and fall protection equipment.
- Follow and comply with company and federally established policies and procedures.
- Utilize a computer to perform a variety of communications, training, and administrative processes.
- Complete forms connected with work assignments according to established procedures.
- Provide direction, guidance, and expertise to other personnel assigned to assist in maintenance and repair activities; conduct training and mentoring responsibilities, assign tasks, and assist other employee groups as directed by senior personnel.
- Read and interpret repair manuals, basic schematics, and supervisor/manager instructions.
- Complete all applicable training courses assigned by the company.
- Assist technicians with basic maintenance tasks such as sweeping, cleaning, greasing, clearing jams, and moving tubs.
- Complete all safety training as assigned by the company.
- Compliance with all company safety programs, policies and procedures.
- Perform additional duties/assignments that may be required by management from time to time.
- High School Graduate or GED.
- Minimum 3 years of previous mechanical or electrical experience and 1+ year PLC logic and HVAC controls experience.
- Must have valid EPA Section 608 Universal refrigerant handling certification.
- Minimum 3 years of previous basic electrical and/or electronic systems work experience.
- Ability to work a non‑traditional schedule including weekends and holidays.
- Previous work experience in an airport environment.
- Previous experience working on conveyors and/or passenger boarding bridges.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and engineering drawings.
- Basic knowledge of commonly used concepts, practices, and procedures in an industrial environment.
- HVAC, welding/brazing, and/or plumbing knowledge and skills.
- 4+ years industrial mechanical and/or electrical background.
- Minimum 2 years’ experience with PLC logic, industrial electrical controls (troubleshooting and repair), and/or Industrial HVAC certification.
- Advanced computer skills.
- Ability to operate a forklift and scissor lift safely according to ELS standards.
- Ability to accept responsibility and account for actions.
