Position Description
Permanent Full‑time Senior Level Diesel Technician to support our truck fleet at Ryder in Kapolei, Hawaii.

- Hourly Pay: $32.62 per hour
- Certification Bonus: $100 for each new ASE certification (up to $700)
- Quarterly Bonus: up to $500 every quarter (four times per year)
- Sign‑On Bonus: $3,000
- Tool Box / Tool Allowance
- Schedule:
Monday–Saturday with one day off during the week - Hours:
Second shift Monday–Friday 12:30 pm–9 pm;
Saturday 6 am–3 pm
- On‑the‑job paid training

- High school diploma or equivalent (preferred)
- Vocational or technical certification, post‑secondary degree or technical certifications (preferred)
- Basic tools (required)
- Demonstrated aptitude and applied experience in mechanical repair of automotive gas or diesel engines, including:
- Routine preventative maintenance: oil changes, brake and tire work (required)
- Basic diagnostics and repairs, including AC and electrical systems (required)
- Three (3) years or more relevant work experience (preferred)
- Valid Commercial Driver License (CDL) Class A (preferred)
- All other certifications required by location (required)
- Minimum of 2 years of experience with mechanical repairs and diagnostics on heavy‑ and medium‑duty equipment (required)
- Computer skills: PC, Windows, mouse, etc. (required)
- This position requires you to drive Ryder vehicles. Must obtain CDL within 6 months after hire.
- Pass a Ryder drug test.
- Pass a DOT physical.
- Pass a Ryder road test.
- Pass a Ryder background and motor‑vehicle check, including drug and alcohol verification from previous employers for the last 3 years.
- Performs vehicle maintenance and repair duties, including:
- Standard vehicle maintenance
- Preventive maintenance
- Diagnoses complex mechanical and electronic problems utilizing diagnostic computers when applicable
- Completes complex and detailed mechanical inspections and repairs with minimal supervision
- Replaces defective components as instructed
- Works unsupervised on most tasks
- Performs facility maintenance duties.
- Interacts with customers/drivers to determine nature of complaints once assigned a task.
- Utilizes key functions of the shop management system and electronic documentation available.
- Works in accordance with all federal, provincial, and corporate compliance guidelines (safety, DOT, MOT).
- Acts as mentor for Tech 1 and Tech 2 levels.
- Demonstrates the ability to access and use internal and external maintenance documents.
- Provides other support duties as required to support operations, including Service Island support.
- Is SBTIII trained within 180 days (SBT
220). - Completes 2 of the OEM online diagnostic scan tool software courses required by location and fleet mix within 365 days.
