Overview
Hawaiian Building Maintenance (HBM) has been providing quality service since 1957. We are one of the largest facility service providers in the State of Hawaii. We are seeking a qualified individual with industry experience. Reporting directly to the Chief Building Engineer or the Account Manager‑Engineering, the Maintenance Technician will be tasked with general maintenance and repairs of facility equipment and property structures, as well as grounds maintenance.
Candidates must pass a background check, possess a valid Hawaii driver’s license, have access to a reliable vehicle, and have previous hands‑on maintenance experience. Proficiency in light plumbing, electrical work, HVAC, carpentry, and painting/drywall is required, and all tasks must be performed in accordance with EPA, Hazmat, and OSHA safety regulations. Excellent communication skills and the capability to work independently or collaboratively within a team are crucial.

- Perform preventative general maintenance inspections and repairs: painting, drywall, plumbing, electrical (light replacement/ballast, driver replacement), mechanical and HVAC (heating, ventilation, the air conditioning)/Chiller readings/AC install (window units), and grounds maintenance.
- Provide excellent customer service skills to interact with property managers, vendors, customers, etc.
- Be able to lift, push, pull a minimum of 50 lbs up to 75 lbs, walk, bend, and stretch during shift.
- Ensure mechanical equipment and systems are working in order and fixed as necessary.
- Create and maintain work orders.
- Create and maintain purchase orders.
- Work in warm/hot conditions, utilize stairs, and navigate up and down a ladder.
- Perform any additional maintenance related duties as required by Hawaiian Building Maintenance (HBM) supervisor/property management.
- Perform basic manual labor: clean common areas, frequently lift, press, push, pull, carry a minimum of 50 lbs (up to 80 lbs), reach overhead, grasp objects, bend, kneel, crawl, squat, climb, stretch, walk, and stand throughout the shift.
- Must pass background check.
- Must have a valid Hawaii driver's license and a reliable vehicle.
- High school diploma or GED preferred.
- Ability to work a flexible schedule.
- Must have basic hand tools.
- General preventative maintenance experience is required (basic commercial plumbing, electrical, HVAC, carpentry, painting, and drywall).
- Troubleshooting abilities.

Compensation per hour: $25.00.
