Job Overview
Sunspear is seeking an Installer to join our Sunspear Commercial program. As an Installer at Sunspear you will be working on a variety of projects from installing solar systems, performing work for our existing customers, and learning more about energy storage and other new technology. Many skills and valuable experience will be acquired in this position.
Reports to: Construction Manager
FLSA Status: Non-Exempt / Hourly
Status: Full-Time
Compensation: $22-32 /Hour (Varies by Experience and Performance)
Essential Duties and Responsibilities- Install and seal roof attachments, equipment racking supports, and solar panels
- Perform all construction tasks per manufacturer’s installation guidelines
- Electrical wiring of solar array/system (DC and AC) and installing raceways around residential applications: roofs, attics, walls
- Aid in the installation of electrical systems that interconnect our solar array to the grid power of our customer’s residential property
- Ensure work performed is of good workmanship and compliant with current NEC and local codes
- Learn & enforce the Sunspear Standard of installation methods & guidelines
- Troubleshoot system problems and resolve rooftop electrical issues
- Review job installation plan with the Crew Lead and other project stakeholders
- Assist in project inventory tracking
- Prepare, load and organize installation vehicles. Warehouse organization required as well
- Attend mandatory training sessions on new products, installation methodology and safety
- Troubleshoot, test, repair and service technical equipment
- Clean up the job site
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Basic knowledge of residential electrical and structural systems, blueprints and spec sheets
- Must be able to pass a pre-employment criminal, driving and drug screen
- Regular, reliable and predictable attendance required
- Provide your own transportation to company warehouse or jobsite as needed
- Ability to make multiple trips up and down a ladder, daily
- Ability to lift, squat, deadlift, pull and carry up to 50 lbs., daily
- Ability to work at the ground level, kneeling, or bending daily
- Ability to kneel and stand repeatedly (lunges), on a daily basis
- Must possess a valid driver’s license in the state where the work is to be performed
- Ability to drive a vehicle during the normal course of business
- Must maintain a clean driving record with the ability to pass a driving background check
- Associates degree and 2+ years related experience
- Strong understanding of NEC codes with emphasis on residential PV installations
- Proficient in the installation of grid-tied and micro inverter applications
- Excellent customer service skills in addition to solid verbal and written communication skills
