Hawaiian Building Maintenance has been providing quality service since 1957. We are one of the largest facility service providers in the State of Hawaii. We are seeking a qualified individual with industry experience. Reporting directly to the Chief Building Engineer or the Account Manager-Engineering, the Maintenance Technician will be tasked with general maintenance and repairs of facility equipment and property structures, as well as grounds maintenance.
Candidates must pass a background check, possess a valid Hawaii driver’s license, access to a reliable vehicle, previous hands‑on maintenance experience, proficiency in light plumbing, electrical work, HVAC, carpentry, and painting/drywall, all tasks performed in accordance with EPA, Hazmat, and OSHA safety regulations. Excellent communication skills and the capability to work independently or collaboratively within a team are crucial. - Position:
Maintenance Technician - Compensation: $24.50 per hour
- Schedule:
Monday to Friday from 6:30 AM - 3:00 PM (40 hours per week)
- Perform preventative general maintenance inspections and repairs: painting, drywall, plumbing, electrical (light replacement/ballast, driver replacement), mechanical and HVAC (change filter, chiller readings and a/c installation), and grounds maintenance.
- Provide outstanding customer service skills for effective interactions with property managers, vendors, customers, and others.
- Conduct walk-throughs with vendors and contractors.
- Work in various weather conditions, utilize stairs and elevators, and navigate up and down ladders.
- Operate a trash compactor and removal of bins; maintain and repair the trash chute; use a hydraulic jack to relocate trash bins; replace irrigation and sprinkler heads; replace and repair locks and light switches.
- Paint common areas such as walls, doors, walkways (including concrete, wood, drywall, and metal).
- Organize and manage inventory of the maintenance shop and the storage room.
- Coordinate and pad elevators for move‑ins and move‑outs.
- Create and maintain work orders and purchase orders.
- Perform any additional maintenance-related duties as required by the Hawaiian Building Maintenance supervisor and/or property management.
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
- Must pass background check.
- Valid Hawaii driver’s license and reliable vehicle.
- Certification as a Pool Operator (CPO) is preferred but not mandatory.
- Ability to work a flexible schedule.
- Basic hand tools required.
- Experience in commercial plumbing, electrical, HVAC, carpentry, painting, and drywall.
- Troubleshooting abilities and mechanical aptitude.
- Strong organizational skills.
- Ability to follow verbal and written instructions in English.
- Excellent public relations, communication, and customer service orientation.
- Must be able to perform basic manual labor: lift, press, push, pull, carry a minimum of 50 lbs (up to 80 lbs), reach overhead, grasp objects, bend, kneel, crawl, squat, climb, stretch, and walk up/down a stairway and ladder, and stand throughout shift.
