Bridge Maintenance Supervisor - Highways; Hawaii

Responsibilities

Supervise Bridge Maintenance Workers performing general and hazardous maintenance work on structural steel, reinforced concrete, and timber highway bridges, including work at heights and underwater; oversee repair and maintenance of buildings; and perform other related duties as assigned.

• Legal Authorization to Work
  :
  Citizens, nationals, or permanent residents of the United States, or eligible under federal law for unrestricted employment in the United States.
• Experience and Training
  :
  Six (6) years of progressively responsible experience in construction and maintenance work, of which three (3) years in bridge maintenance and repair work, including one year in supervisory capacity; or an equivalent combination of experience and training.
• Knowledge of
  :
  • Bridge inspection and maintenance practices, methods, materials, and tools.
  • Steel welding and cutting equipment and its use.
  • Mixing and applying paints to steel, concrete, and wooden surfaces and surface preparation techniques.
  • Rigging, scaffolds, and related equipment.
  • Safety hazards and precautions necessary in bridge maintenance work.
  • Principles and practices of supervision.
• Ability to
  :
  • Plan, lay out, assign, and review work of Bridge Maintenance Workers.
  • Inspect bridges to determine repairs needed and make cost estimates.
  • Prepare comprehensive maintenance reports and budgets.
