Location: East Honolulu
Position
Carpenter-Cabinet Maker – Honolulu, Department of Facility Maintenance, Public Building and Electrical Maintenance Division.
Work hours:
Monday to Friday, 6:50 a.m. – 3:20 p.m.
- Construct walls, partitions, ceilings, floors, and other structural components during renovations and modifications.
- Build new wooden structures such as offices, meeting rooms, carports, and storage sheds.
- Fabricate and install built‑in cabinets, counters, shelving, bookcases, desks, work tables, doors, and door frames.
- Remove and replace damaged or termite‑infested sills, floor joists, rafters, walls, partitions and other wooden components; apply termite treatment chemicals as needed.
- Read and interpret construction plans, specifications, and sketches to determine materials required.
- Serve as a Disaster Response Worker. Work may extend beyond normal hours, including weekends, as required to meet schedules and deadlines.
- Hold unescorted access to the Joint Traffic Management Center (JTMC). A fingerprint‑based criminal history record check is required before assignment.

QualificationsExperience and/or training of sufficient scope and quality to competently perform journey‑level carpentry and cabinet‑making duties. Candidates must demonstrate the ability to plan, layout, and set up work; operate and maintain woodworking machines; read and work from plans, specifications, blueprints, sketches, and drawings; estimate time, labor, and material requirements; rig scaffolds; construct and repair high‑grade wooden furniture and fine woodwork; work to close tolerances;
maintain safety; follow oral and written instructions; and maintain good working relationships.
NOTE:
Cabinet‑making experience alone is not qualifying. Experience must include both carpentry and cabinet making.
All required licenses and certificates must be obtained and maintained throughout employment.
