Auto Body Technician

Job Description

The primary responsibility of the Auto Body Technician is to provide an exceptional customer experience by meticulously assessing, repairing, and restoring each vehicle to its pre-accident condition. The technician disassembles, repairs, and reassembles vehicles while adhering to company KPIs and acting as a brand ambassador for The Boyd Group.

• Ensure consistent execution of WOW (Wow Operating Way) plan.
• Plan repair work and prepare cost estimates for customers.
• Use tools such as cutting guns, plasma cutters, hydraulic jacks, and hammers to repair vehicle sections.
• Reduce dents and minor body damage; mix and apply filler resins when necessary.
• Realign vehicle chassis and frames to repair structural damage.
• Remove damaged sections and replace with new or aftermarket parts, including glass and windshields.
• Repair interior parts as needed.
• Weld or attach parts and prepare vehicles for paint, using factory‑specified or agreed paint.
• Attempt to complete work orders within labor time guidelines and inspect vehicles after repair.
• Perform other related duties as assigned.

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Successful completion of a technical school program or a 3‑year apprenticeship as an auto body repairer.

• Read job orders and work independently.
• Collaborate with other repairers in an auto body shop.
• Understand methods and procedures to repair vehicle bodies.
• Know how to use trade tools effectively.

• Work safely in a noisy area with odors present.
• Lifting up to 30 pounds when required.
• Visually inspect vehicle damage in various weather conditions.
• Bend, stretch, kneel, and squat for repairs and inspections.

Flat Rate: $25 – $36 per hour. Compensation is performance‑based and tied to turned hours. If total compensation in a pay period is below local or state minimum wage, hours are calculated at the higher wage. Compensation is commensurate with skill, education, and experience.
