Position Summary
Hourly LRAM Heavy Equipment Operator position is available at Schofield Barracks, HI with Colorado State University (CSU) and the Center for Environmental Management of Military Lands (CEMML). The role focuses on land rehabilitation and maintenance for US Army Garrison Hawaii at Schofield Barracks, operating heavy equipment such as dozers, skid steers, front‑end loaders, vibratory compactors, forestry mowers/mulchers, excavators, backhoes, agricultural tractors, and heavy‑duty trailers.
LocationOn‑site at Schofield Barracks and its associated sub‑installations on the island of Oahu, Hawaii.
EssentialJob Duties
- Operate heavy equipment to complete LRAM projects.
- Perform maintenance and inspections of all equipment for operational readiness and safety.
- Track and prepare weekly progress reports.
- Work exclusively in‑person at Schofield Barracks, HI.
- Pass a pre‑employment criminal background check.
- Maintain a valid driver’s license and meet CSU driving standards.
- Obtain and maintain CPR/First Aid certification.
- Be able to lift 50 pounds repeatedly without assistance.
- Work outdoors under all hazardous conditions (heat, cold, humidity, etc.).
- Proficient in verbal and written English communication.
- Must be legally authorized to work in the U.S.; visa sponsorship not provided.
- High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent.
- Minimum two (2) years of experience running and maintaining heavy equipment such as bulldozers, dump trucks, excavators, front‑end loaders, backhoes, skid steers, agricultural tractors, motor‑graders, and trailers.
- Experience performing operational, routine, and operator maintenance and inspections to maintain safety and readiness.
- Ability to load, secure, and transport heavy equipment on both paved and dirt roads.
- Experience working in a structured organization such as a military installation.
- Knowledge of Army instructions, directives, and processes.
- Experience with land rehabilitation, horizontal construction, and erosion control practices, including BMPs for Clean Water Act compliance.
- Experience running and maintaining heavy equipment such as 10‑to‑25‑ton dump trucks, dozers, motor graders, skid steers, front‑end loaders, forestry mowers, excavators, agricultural tractors, and backhoes.
$28.00–$30.00 an hour.
