Job Summary
The Maintenance Mechanic-HVAC performs preventative maintenance and repairs to HVAC equipment in addition to other general building maintenance duties throughout the facility.
Responsibilities- Respond promptly to HVAC‑related problems throughout the facility.
- Perform preventative maintenance on air handlers, supply fans, fan‑coil units, variable air volume units, and other related equipment.
- Maintain and update maintenance and repair logs for all work completed.
- Assist with A/C inventory on parts and stock.
- Use all required PPE and maintain a safe working environment.
- Operate building automation systems to support HVAC operations.
- Assist with HVAC repairs and setup in the kitchen area, including replacement of belts, filters, and coil cleaning.
- Complete work orders for preventative maintenance and repairs on other building systems such as paint, tile, drywall, carpeting, and other construction‑related tasks.
- Support event functions by setting up logistics for client events, including electrical access for mobile lighting, water access for mobile equipment, façade signs, and other decorative items.
- Treat emergency situations such as plumbing and electrical issues that occur throughout the facility.
- Operate all equipment and perform tasks in accordance with safety procedures and wear appropriate protective equipment.
- Inspect the facility daily to identify and correct hazardous conditions, reporting potential hazards to the manager.
- Maintain tools and equipment necessary for job duties.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- 2–4 years of related HVAC work experience.
- HVAC or construction certification, trade, vocational education, or training.
- Knowledge of automated logic or building automation system(s).
- Lift certification and ability to lift/carry 51–100 pounds.
- General computer skills and working knowledge of Microsoft Office.
- Ability to work under pressure to meet strict deadlines.
- Ability to work in high, low, and small spaces and in difficult positions and environments (sun exposure, standing, walking, climbing, twisting/bending/stooping, reaching).
- Demonstrated ability to use basic maintenance equipment, hand and power tools, and to follow safety techniques and procedures.
- Ability to work varied shifts, weekdays, weekends, holidays, and additional hours as venue schedule requires.
- Ability to work harmoniously in a team setting, providing customer service that reflects the Hawai‘i Convention Center’s values.
Rate of pay: $24–$26 per hour
. Hours vary by venue schedule and may include weekdays, weekends, holidays, and additional hours as required.
