Recruitment is being conducted under the Operation Hire Hawaii (OH‑HI) project, a targeted outreach initiative featuring an expedited hiring process and fast‑tracking qualified applicants into job opportunities throughout Hawai’i.
Applications will be reviewed for legal authorization to work in the U.S. and will be referred to the hiring department for consideration and an initial review.
Salary: $5,359 to $5,944 per month (SR‑16, Step C to I). Salary includes Shortage Category Differential.

Hiring rates will be based on availability of funds, the applicant’s qualifications, and other relevant factors.
This position independently inspects the construction of buildings and structures of simple design to determine whether construction methods, practices, materials and workmanship conform to the provisions of contracts, agreements, plans and specifications; and performs other related duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualification Requirements- Legal Authorization to Work Requirement
The State of Hawaii requires all persons seeking employment with the government of the State to be citizens, nationals, or permanent resident aliens of the United States, or eligible under federal law for unrestricted employment in the United States. - Basic Experience/Education
Work experience that demonstrates the ability to read, comprehend and understand oral and written instructions, write simply and directly, and perform arithmetic computations. Graduation from high school, or equivalent, may be substituted for the work experience. - General Experience
TWO (2) YEARS of journey‑level experience in the building construction trades, demonstrating knowledge of the full range of specialized knowledge, skills, abilities and practices used in such trades, including knowledge of building construction methods and materials, safety requirements and practices, and the ability to read and interpret blueprints and sketches. - Substitution Allowed
