Trades / Skilled Labor
Installation Technician, Maintenance Technician / Mechanic, HVAC Tech / Heating Engineer, Building Maintenance
Level: Minimum 2-5 years or relevant experience
Most heat pumps are designed in one place, built in another, and installed by people who've never met anyone from the company that made them. We're doing the opposite. We design, manufacture, and deploy our units from an island in the Pacific — and we're looking for a hands‑on Deployment Lead to own the moment those units leave our floor and land in a real building.
You'll turn a signed deployment into a successful, reliable installation — coordinating everything a site needs before, during, and after an Airform goes in. It's a technical, highly coordinative role:
You'll speak the language of construction, HVAC, and the trades fluently enough to keep a project moving reliably.
We're a VC-backed ($12M raised) startup building a next generation heat pump right here in Hawaii. We've got large deployments lined up for 2026 and beyond. We move fast, we build real things, and we'd rather solve a problem on-site than write a memo about it.
Key Responsibilities- Customer & Project Ownership — Be the face of the company across the deployment lifecycle. Walk sites with architects, developers, and building engineers, translate their requirements into clear plans and timelines, and keep everyone honest about what's actually happening.
- Site Readiness & Contractor Coordination — Coordinate internal and external labor for pre-delivery prep (water, electrical, data). Source, schedule, and manage licensed trades; run readiness checks and sign‑offs before units ship; and untangle the access, utility, and sequencing problems that quietly kill timelines.
- Production Coordination — Partner with production so units are built, tested, and out the door on time. Bring the field's hard lessons back to engineering to make the next install easier than the last. Write the SOPs, checklists, and work instructions that turn one good deployment into a repeatable one.
- Customer Success & Improvement — Follow up after install to confirm units are performing and customers are happy. Track what's working and what isn't, and fix it. As volume grows, hire and train the deployment team behind you.
- 2+ years (5+ preferred) in a customer‑facing, project coordination, or field deployment role — construction, HVAC, or mechanical/electrical experience strongly preferred (adjacent project‑delivery backgrounds welcome).
- Working understanding of construction and HVAC, and comfort coordinating water, electrical, and data trades.
- Strong project management instincts across timelines, dependencies, and multiple sites.
- A genuinely good communicator — the kind of person customers and contractors trust to tell them the truth and get it sorted.
- Self‑directed and resourceful — happy as a team of one, building the playbook as you go, comfortable with the ambiguity that comes with being early.
- Hawaii contractor's license or familiarity with local permitting and inspection.
- Field experience deploying HVAC, appliance, or electro‑mechanical hardware.
- Background in new‑construction or retrofit installs.
- Exposure to UL, ISO, or other compliance processes.
- Ability to read building plans and mechanical drawings.
- Experience standing up a deployment or field‑service function from scratch.
You'll own the moment our product meets the real world. If you love being on‑site, solving real problems with real trades, and building the systems that let a hardware company deploy reliably at scale, come build it with us.
