Position within the Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation.
Starting monthly salary at the minimum rate of pay advertised above.
Responsibilities- Manages and operates a farm program.
- Directly supervises crew leaders and farm laborers.
- Keeps records and prepares reports.
- Operates and maintains farm equipment.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
The State of Hawaii requires all applicants to be citizens, nationals, or permanent resident aliens of the United States, or eligible under federal law for unrestricted employment.
Basic Requirement- Experience, education, or training demonstrating the ability to read, comprehend, and apply written and oral directions.
- Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing.
- 3 years of responsible farm work experience in one or a combination of the following areas:
- 2 years of supervisory work experience required, including planning, organizing, scheduling, directing work of others, assigning and reviewing work, advising on work problems, training and developing subordinates, and evaluating performance.
- Study at an accredited institution in agriculture may be substituted for experience as follows:
- 15 semester hours for six months of experience, with at least one course in plant/crop propagation or livestock management, up to a maximum of two years of general experience.
- For these substitutions, six of every fifteen semester hours must have been in agricultural or related courses, and the required knowledge listed under General Experience must be provided.
- Successful completion of an agricultural curriculum leading to a diploma or certificate may be substituted on a year‑for‑year basis up to a maximum of two years of general experience.
- Successful completion of a farm practicum providing one semester of on‑the‑job vocational/technical competencies may be substituted for six months of general experience.
- Prison Rape Elimination Act (PREA) Requirement:
No history of sexual abuse or related offenses as defined by federal law. - Valid driver’s license required at time of appointment.
