Job Summary
The Appliance Mechanic installs, services, and repairs residential and commercial appliances, including washers, dryers, refrigerators, ranges, dishwashers, deep‑fat fryers, ovens, mixers, warming ovens, ice machines, electric slicers, convection ovens, steam kettles, freezers, and chillers. The role requires strong customer‑service skills and the use of hand tools and test equipment while following wiring diagrams and manufacturer’s specifications.
Essential Functions- Diagnose and repair appliances.
- Refurbish and clean appliances both on the job site and in the shop.
- Fill out necessary forms required by office staff.
- Operate a forklift.
- Lift materials and products up to 75 lbs.
- Stand for extended periods of time.
- Communicate professionally and effectively with staff and customers.
- Participate in required skills and knowledge training.
- Maintain a constant state of alertness and work safely.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Effective communication with employees, customers, and clients.
- Discretion when handling customer accounts and concerns.
- Self‑motivated and able to work independently, multitask, and prioritize.
- Exceptional time management and organization skills.
- Concentration, accuracy, and attention to detail.
- Ability to write correspondence.
- Follow instructions accurately.
- Basic arithmetic skills (addition, subtraction, multiplication, division).
- Business ethics and professionalism with customers, vendors, and co‑workers.
- Resourcefulness in assisting customers.
- Adaptability to changes in the work environment.
- Suggest improvements, present ideas, and ask for help when needed.
- Read and interpret documents such as manufacturer’s manuals and SOPs.
- Customer focused mindset.
This position has no supervisory responsibilities.
Qualifications- High School Diploma or equivalent, or a technical degree, or 2 years of experience in the appliance repair field.
- Ability to read and interpret maintenance instructions and procedure manuals.
- Ability to write routine reports and fill out forms accurately.
- Valid state driver’s license during the term of employment.
- Pass a pre‑employment drug screening test.
- Obtain a base pass for military bases.
Preference will be given to Calista shareholders, their descendants, spouses of Calista shareholders, and shareholders of other corporations created pursuant to the Alaska Native Claims Settlement Act, in accordance with Title
