Duties
* You will provide for the operation, maintenance, repair, and modifications to the Navy's Potable Water Utility system.
* You will visit work sites to analyze, evaluate, and determine course of action when planning repairs and modification projects.
* You will determine water system configuration/lineup to effect repairs in an efficient manner.

* You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final security clearance prior to entrance on duty. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal.
* You will be required to successfully complete a pre-appointment physical examination.
* You will be required to wear personal protective equipment such as helmets, gloves, coveralls, glasses, goggles, respirators and safety shoes continuously for the duration of the work shift.
* This position requires that the employee be certified in the use of a respirator.
* Must be a certified Distribution System Operator Class 1 certification within one (1) year of start of appointment if selected for WG-10.
* Employee must obtain and maintain eligibility for continuous unescorted access to the Pearl Harbor Naval Shipyard Controlled Industrial Area (CIA) and access to other restricted /controlled areas. Qualifications Although a specific length of time and experience is not required for most trade and labor occupations, you must show through experience and training that you possess the quality level of knowledge and skill necessary to perform the duties of the position at the level for which you are applying.

Your qualifications will be evaluated on the basis of your level of knowledge, skills, abilities and/or competencies in the job elements and screen out listed below. This job has a screen-out element which will be used to determine minimum eligibility for this job. Applicants who do not receive a minimum of two points on the screen-out element(s) will be found ineligible.
The Screen-out Element for this position is: I am able to perform some tasks including:
1) Performing preventive maintenance and inspection on equipment for water pumping and booster stations in order to identify excessive wear and deterioration;
2) Troubleshooting water plant equipment and system to diagnose malfunction and determine best method of repair;
3) Using various test equipment and measuring devices such as precision gauges, flow meters, IR thermometers, stroboscopic timers, and vibration analyzers to determine pump conditions. I work under supervision of a work leader or journey-level employee who reviews my work for completion. Additional vacancies may be filled by this announcement. This position requires rotating shift work. Recall to duty is a requirement of this position. This position is subject to work an uncommon tour, including nights, weekends, and holidays to meet mission requirements. Overtime or night differential pay and/or unusual duty hours may be required. The facility is a 24/7 operation 365 days a year weekends and Holidays.
Employee may be required to work beyond the regular hours past assigned set shift for an emergency and to fill a rotating shift slot if next shift calls in sick or family related issue. Employee will be part of a rotating shift group call distribution system operators…
