The Social Worker will assist attorneys in assessing clients’ personal and social needs and circumstances. This role involves direct client engagement, serving individuals from diverse backgrounds with a variety of needs—including care home placement for older adults, support for individuals with disabilities, and assistance with housing and public benefits. The Social Worker will collaborate closely with attorneys and staff in preparation for new and ongoing cases, including conservatorship/guardianship, trust, and probate administration matters.
Responsibilities may include advocacy, resource coordination, benefits assistance, budgeting support, and other services as requested.
This position is based at Maximum Legal Service Corporation (Max Corp), a Hawaii nonprofit located in downtown Honolulu. It is a full-time, in-person position. Regular attendance during office hours (Monday–Friday, 8:30 a.m.–5:00 p.m.) is required.
Pay- $27.88 to $32.00 per hour, depending on education and experience

- Collaborates with attorneys, clients, and professionals on case planning and support
- Drafts client-related communications and updates, including emails and case notes
- Researches and analyzes public benefits and community resources; provides findings to attorneys
- Conducts client interviews and summarizes relevant social and personal history
- Organizes and maintains client records, including case files and personal effects
- Assists with fiduciary case administration and may attend external meetings
- Tracks time and maintains records of billable hours on assigned cases
- Monitors and reports on regulatory or program changes relevant to client services
- Performs other related duties as assigned
Skills and Abilities
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Foundation in social work principles, especially in gerontology and health-related issues
- Excellent interpersonal and client service skills
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
- Effective time management and ability to meet deadlines
- Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities
- Discretion, good judgment, and commitment to confidentiality
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, interdisciplinary team environment
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and standard office tools
- Valid driver’s license and access to reliable transportation for work purposes
- Master’s degree in Social Work (MSW) required
- Licensed Social Worker (LSW) credential from the State of Hawaii required
- Related experience preferred
- Prolonged periods of desk and computer work
- Ability to lift up to 15 pounds occasionally
