Summary of Program and Position:

Ulupono Family Strengthening Program works to increase the internal resources of families to handle challenges they face with their children. Family support specialists on Oahu and Maui work with parents/caregivers of children ages birth to 17 years old to provide parenting education, promote child health, development and safety, offer emotional support, link families to resources in their community.

The Clinical Supervisor/Trainer serves as the clinical coach and will provide training, consultation, supervision, and on‑going support regarding organizational and systems issues and model fidelity in accordance with the Family Check‑Up Model. In collaboration with the Program Supervisor, will assist in the oversight of the model delivery and the delivery of voluntary culturally appropriate and strengths‑based child abuse and neglect prevention and intervention services for low to moderate risk families referred by the Department of Human Services, Child Welfare Intake units.

This position communicates frequently with community partners, home visitors, other supervisors, funders, and families enrolled in the program. This position is under the direct supervision of the Assistant Program Director.

  • Behaves in a manner that supports the agency's mission and follows personnel policies and procedures.
  • Maintains expert knowledge of the Family Check‑up model and its component parts. Engages in ongoing quality assurance and fidelity of the program staff’s work and professional development processes with each trained staff member.
  • Provides minimal monthly clinical supervision, group supervision as needed, and consultation to the Ulupono Family Strengthening Services teams on Maui and Oahu programs, as assigned. Provides training and shadowing support on an ongoing basis, documenting training and support activities via written development plans.
  • In collaboration with the FSS Clinical and Supervisory Teams on Maui and Oahu, assesses the needs and strengths of the program and will develop plans to address program objectives including model requirements to ensure fidelity and contractual requirements that impact the functioning of the FSS program. Will coordinate and facilitate quarterly trainings and all activities required to successfully complete training and evaluation with the model.
  • Coordinates and ensures appropriate delivery of home‑based child abuse and neglect prevention services identified by Child Welfare Services as low to moderate risk families with children, ages 0 – 17 ensuring that these services focus on increasing parents’ ability to establish and maintain safety for their children, meet their children’s needs, problem solve, and access community resources to prevent re‑occurrence of CWS involvement.
  • Provides direct services to clients as needed, such as those families for whom the Family Support Specialist or program staff needs additional support, or as assigned.
