Duties SummaryThe Cook II is a fully competent cook responsible for independently preparing a variety of entrees and other principal meal items. The cook may manage a cooking station within a kitchen featuring several stations and serving a large volume of meals, or may serve as the primary cook in a smaller kitchen while supervising kitchen staff and helpers. The Cook II also performs other related duties as assigned.

Applicants must be willing and able to work rotating shifts, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
Minimum Qualification Requirements Legal Authorization To WorkThe State of Hawaii requires all persons seeking employment with the government of the State to be citizens, nationals, or permanent resident aliens of the United States, or eligible under federal law for unrestricted employment in the United States.
General ExperienceTwo (2) years of progressively responsible experience demonstrating knowledge and skill to perform general quantity cooking duties in a large‑scale cooking operation.
Driver's LicenseSome positions require a valid driver's license at the time of appointment.
Substitutions AllowedRelevant substitutions as described in the Minimum Qualification Requirements may apply.
Other RequirementsCandidates who are conditionally offered employment or approved for movement into this position will be subject to drug screening, as required by Federal, State or local laws or departmental policy, and will undergo an intensive background check.

- Has been convicted of engaging or attempting to engage in sexual activity in the community facilitated by force, overt or implied threats of force, or coercion, or if the victim did not consent or was unable to consent or refuse.
- Has been civilly or administratively adjudicated to have engaged in the activity described in #2 above.
- Has been the subject of substantiated allegations of sexual abuse or sexual harassment or resigned during a pending investigation of alleged sexual abuse or sexual harassment.
