Summary of duties

The Transitional Family Home (TFH) Parent Support Specialist/Recruiter is primarily responsible for the outreach, recruitment and training of qualified Transitional Family Home parents to provide care for youth. The TFH Parent Support Specialist/Recruiter utilizes creative ways to market the program including newspaper advertisements, media, community events such as fairs, outreach to churches and other places of worship, and outreach to other community organizations including but not limited to schools, medical facilities, non-profit organizations and other social service organizations.

The TFH Parent Support Specialist/Recruiter also conducts pre‑licensure training for newly incoming TFH Parents and assists with coordinating and facilitating ongoing training for current TFH Parents.

The TFH Parent Support Specialist/Recruiter conducts a minimum of four (4) outreaches in the community per month with the goal of securing at least one (1) new TFH family per month with the focus on highly qualified candidates. The TFH Parent Support Specialist/Recruiter also works closely with CFS Communications team in order to ensure recruitment efforts can occur collaboratively and smoothly.

The TFH Parent Support Specialist/Recruiter may also assist Transitional Family Home parents with the qualification process and ensure that all required documents as well as renewal documents are received in a timely manner. The TFH Parent Support Specialist/Recruiter also assists with collaborative work on the treatment teams for effective admission of all youth and maintenance of the required program census.

Additional duties may include the timely entering of consents, reports and data into the electronic health record submitting mileage reimbursement requests in a timely manner, attending TFH staff supervisions, meeting all training requirements set forth by contract and other related duties as assigned. Primarily interacts with Clinical Supervisor for TFH, Case Manager for TFH, Clinical Specialist for TFH and prospective and current TFH Parents.

This is an island‑wide position and will require occasional driving to all parts of Hawai?i Island. The TFH Parent Support Specialist/Recruiter can be based out of East or West Hawai?i.

Education and training requirements

    Must have a master's degree from a nationally accredited university that is eligible for Professional and Vocational Licensing (PVL) in Hawaii. Included are national board‑certified behavior analyst, marriage and family therapist, mental health counselor, psychologist, social worker, school psychologist or psychiatric nurse.
Experience
  • Over three years, up to and including six years
  • Other:
    Related human services experience such as recruiting, licensing, training and supporting Resource Caregivers, and some outreach and marketing experience preferred.
