Salary: $3,006 to $3,809 per month (SR-08, Steps C - I) Level I, $3,194 to $4,038 per month (SR-10, Steps C - I) Level II.
Note:
Hiring rates will be based on availability of funds, the applicant's qualifications, and other relevant factors.
Shift work:
Applicants must be willing and able to work rotating shifts, including evenings, weekends and holidays.
The Visitor Information Program Assistant I is responsible for greeting, welcoming and assisting the traveling public in providing information of interest relative to hotels and other accommodations, ground and air transportation, tourist attractions and activities and disseminating maps, brochures and periodicals at the airport.
The Visitor Information Program Assistant II is responsible for speaking a designated language as well as English while conversing with the traveling public and others, and for providing interpreter services as required. This is in addition to the duties of the next lower level of this series.
QualificationsTo qualify, applicants must meet all of the following requirements:
- Basic Experience Requirement: Applicants must possess experience that demonstrates the ability to read, understand and follow oral and written instructions, and a high degree of verbal skill. This experience may be met from part‑time and/or unpaid work. However, there must be evidence that participation was continuous, though not necessarily on a full‑time normal work basis. This requirement may also be met by possession of a high school diploma or equivalent.
- General
Experience:
One (1) year of work experience demonstrating patience, tact, and an even temper in meeting and dealing with others. Desirable experience may include, but is not limited to, hospitality or customer‑service roles catering to the traveling public. - Special Language Requirement (Visitor Information Program Assistant II): Applicants must possess knowledge of the ability to speak one of the following languages in addition to English:
Japanese, Mandarin, Korean, Tagalog, Hawaiian, Samoan, Spanish, French. - Substitutions Allowed: Successful completion of coursework from an accredited college or university may be substituted for the General Experience on the basis of fifteen (15) semester credit hours of coursework for six (6) months of General Experience. The coursework must include at least three (3) semester credit hours in psychology, sociology, social work, or another behavioral science.
- Security Identification Display Area (SIDA) Clearance - Federal Criminal History Record Check: Persons considered for employment in positions requiring unescorted access to secured areas at the airport must undergo a pre‑employment fingerprint‑based criminal history check. Applicants must not have been convicted of a disqualifying criminal offense within ten years of application.
