Work Location:
The positions are located at the Home Maluhia (shelter) in Honolulu, Oahu.
Gender-Specific Positions:
The positions require employees to be female to serve female clients.
Shiftwork:
Incumbents will work on a rotating shift basis including weekends, nights, holidays, and outside scheduled hours.
Intermittent (On‑call)
Work Hours:
Some positions require up to 40 hours per week as needed; availability for weekends, nights, and holidays required.
Performs therapeutic counseling and allied rehabilitative services of a simple nature with juveniles requiring temporary shelter in a non‑secured facility; interviews juveniles to obtain background information; assists in investigation, evaluation, and assessment of the juvenile’s background; makes recommendations on referrals to community resources and treatment/rehabilitation programs; prepares case records and reports; performs other duties as required.
Minimum Qualification RequirementsEducation:
Bachelor’s degree from an accredited four‑year college/university with at least twelve semester credit hours in social science.
Experience:
Progressively responsible professional experience involving counseling to individuals and/or families, including educational guidance, vocational rehabilitation, pastoral counseling, probation or parole counseling. Experience may be substituted for education on a year‑for‑year basis.
Additional Requirements:
Ability to write clear reports, read and interpret complex material, solve problems logically.

Selective Certification Requirement – Driver’s LicenseApplicants must possess a valid and unexpired driver’s license to operate a motor vehicle.
Testing Information- Applications will be evaluated to determine whether applicants meet minimum qualifications.
- Qualified applicants will be notified to schedule an Attitudinal Test in Honolulu; the test is not available online.
- Only applicants who pass the Attitudinal Test will be eligible for consideration.
Applicants must not have a history of sexual abuse or related offenses in any correctional or community confinement setting per PREA Federal law.
