Responsibilities
Veterans Services Counselors provide information, counsel, advice and assistance to veterans, their families, dependents and service members concerning services, assistance or benefits to which they are entitled by law or otherwise; directs and refers them to appropriate agencies for other services, assistance and benefits. Positions at this level perform a variety of veterans affairs counseling functions ranging from the simple to moderately complex and perform other duties as required.
QualificationsLegal Authorization to Work: The State of Hawaii requires all persons seeking employment with the government of the State to be citizens, nationals, or permanent resident aliens of the United States, or eligible under federal law for unrestricted employment in the United States.
Education: A bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university.
General
Experience:
One year of progressively responsible professional experience as an employment counselor, rehabilitation specialist, social worker, or other professional work experience assisting others with resolving their vocational, health, social, or other personal problems. Such experience must provide knowledge of interviewing techniques, community resources and local agencies, groups and organizations providing services or benefits to the community it serves and must have included providing services to veterans.

Driver's License: Applicants must possess a valid driver's license at the time of appointment.
