Responsibilities
- Lead, direct, and execute long‑range strategic inspection processes, complex systemic analyses, intelligence oversight assessments, highly sensitive investigations, and quality assessment reviews.
- Direct and perform highly complex inspections and assessments to evaluate compliance, economic resource use, programmatic performance, and strategic functional risk.
- Design pre‑inspection work plans for unprecedented or highly sensitive mission areas, establishing new evaluation methodologies where existing criteria are inadequate.
- Diagnose systemic command deficiencies, drive policy reform and strategic resource reallocation to optimize mission readiness.
- Direct intake triage for complex, high‑sensitivity hotline complaints.
- Design and execute investigative plans for high‑profile allegations.
- Conduct interviews with hostile, reluctant, or high‑ranking complainants, witnesses, and SMEs using advanced fact‑finding and interrogation techniques.
- Must be a U.S. Citizen.
- Must be determined suitable for federal employment.
- Must participate in the direct deposit pay program.
- New employees to the Department of the Navy will be required to pass the E‑Verify employment verification check.
- Current federal employees applying for GS jobs must serve at least one year at the next lower grade level (time‑in‑grade requirement).
- Appointment of retired military members within 180 days after retirement to a civilian position is subject to 5 U.S.C. 3326.
- Males born after December 31, 1959 must be registered for Selective Service.
- Must obtain and maintain a current valid U.S. driver’s license.
- Must obtain and maintain an interim and/or final security clearance prior to entrance on duty.
- Successful completion of mandatory NAVINSGEN certifications (Team Member, Intake Specialist, Inspector, and Investigator) within one year of onboarding is required.
- Travel from the normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS, including remote or isolated sites, may be required.
- Must obtain and maintain a U.S. Passport.
- Work may include unusual duty hours, nights, weekends, and holidays; overtime or differential pay may be required.
- At least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS‑12 grade level, demonstrating execution of long‑range strategic inspection plans and processes; conducting oversight assessments and program reviews; producing high‑quality inspection reports; and managing corrective actions and remediation of inspection findings.
- Experience may include paid, unpaid, or volunteer service in national or community service programs.
- No formal education requirement; however, relevant professional experience is preferred.
