Social Service Assistant IV

Department of Human Services – Halawa to Kalihi, Downtown, and Department of Health – Kaneohe to Kualoa.

Salary: $3,606 to $4,563 per month (SR-11, Step C to I).

• Performs extensive field work and outreach functions.
• Serves as liaison between professional staff and clients and/or potential clients.
• Performs preliminary screening for continued eligibility for social service programs.

• Legal Authorization to work: citizen, national, or permanent resident alien of the United States, or eligible under federal law for unrestricted employment in the United States.
• Education:
  
  Graduation from high school or equivalent. Demonstrated ability to read, comprehend, and apply written directions, strong verbal skills, and basic mathematical computation, including averaging.
• Specialized
  
  Experience:
  
  Three years of providing supportive services to professional workers in a social service or health‑related agency. Duties include clerical tasks, transporting clients and materials, observing and reporting client interactions, explaining services to clients, and assisting in overseeing group activities such as bowling and swimming. Experience must involve engaging with clients.
• Experience:
  
  Applicants for Social Service Assistant IV must possess at least one year of experience comparable to Social Service Aid III in State government.
• Substitutions:
  Relevant substitutions as described in the Minimum Qualification Requirements will apply.
• Driver’s License: A valid driver's license is required for some positions.
