The Indo-Pacific Regional Operations Department (N554) works with the U.S. Pacific Command (US PACOM) and the Military Service Components to inform warfighter requirements and Concepts of Operation (CONOPS), and provides Command, Control, Communications, Computers, and Intelligence (C4I) systems acquisition, engineering, and integration support to the Department of War (DOW) and U.S. Allies in the Pacific Theater.

N554 operational depth and warfighter access has generated considerable expertise in the development and analysis of CONOPS, mission threads, use cases, and operational requirements. The Department establishes links between DoW sponsors and Coalition Partner development activities.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate in an agile team—participating in stand‑ups, sprint planning, and demos—to translate mission requirements into functional, production‑ready features.
  • Build end‑to‑end data pipelines (Python + SQL) that ingest, clean, and transform raw datasets for analysis and AI/ML model feeding.
  • Design and develop full‑stack web applications (Django/Flask back‑end; React/Next.js/React‑Native front‑end) that expose RESTful APIs and interactive visualizations of digital‑twin states.
  • Create and maintain interactive dashboards and visualizations (Plotly, D3, or similar) to surface analytical insights and model predictions for stakeholders.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Sustained excellence in academic performance
  • Must be a student enrolled full-time in an accredited degree-seeking program in software engineering, computer science, information science, or a related degree and continue to be enrolled full-time the semester following the internship.
  • Proficient in Python and SQL; able to write scripts for data cleaning/analysis.
  • Experience with Git (branching, pull‑requests, and basic code‑review workflow).
  • Fundamental knowledge of web development concepts: HTTP/REST, HTML‑CSS, and JavaScript (or Type Script).
  • Strong analytical mindset and clear written/oral communication skill

Basic Qualifications:

  • Demonstrated interest in serving the public
  • Hands‑on experience building web services with Django or Flask, including design of RESTful APIs.
  • Front‑end development using React.js, Next.js, or React Native; comfortable writing code in Type Script (or JavaScript).
  • Exposure to Java (object‑oriented programming) and the ability to read/modify Java codebases.
  • Data‑visualization experience with libraries or tools such as Plotly, D3, or Tableau‑style dashboards, and/or prior work on digital‑twin prototypes.
  • Applied AI/ML exposure – experience training or running models (e.g., scikit‑learn, Tensor Flow, PyTorch).
