Salary Range
: $3,500 stipend paid one time at the end of each season
The Head Surfing Coach oversees all aspects of the surfing program, including coaching, player development, team management, and administrative responsibilities. The coach will uphold the values and mission of the athletic department and Mid-Pacific, emphasizing student-athlete development, sportsmanship, and academic achievement.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIESinclude the following. Other duties may be assigned.
- Develop and implement a comprehensive surfing program that aligns with Mid-Pacific’s athletic philosophy.
- Serve as a role model for student-athletes, promoting values of discipline, integrity, and teamwork.
- Communicate effectively with parents, student-athletes, staff, and administration to build a supportive surfing community.
- Oversee all competitions.
- Provide instruction and feedback to develop athletes’ skills, strategies, and mental preparation.
- Ensure compliance with league, school, and NFHS regulations.
- Manage the surfing program budget and maintain financial records, including submitting receipts for reimbursement.
- Coordinate with the Athletic Department to order and distribute equipment, uniforms and other supplies.
- Maintain accurate records of athletes’ eligibility, attendance, and team performance.
- Submit required documentation for eligibility, scheduling, and competition results to the athletic office.
- Foster a positive and inclusive environment for all team members.
- Guide student-athletes on maintaining academic eligibility and balancing athletics with academics.
- Implement mental and physical preparation routines tailored to enhance individual and team performance.
- Arrive at least 15 minutes before competitions, and transportation departures to supervise student-athletes.
- Ensure student-athletes adhere to safety protocols during all activities, including proper hydration and equipment usage.
- Monitor and inspect competition areas to ensure safe conditions.
- Supervise students until all are picked up or have left the venue safely.
- Abide by water safety protocols as implemented by Mid-Pacific, ILH, and HHSAA.
This job description serves as a guideline for expectations and responsibilities. The Head Surfing Coach will work closely with the Athletic Director to ensure the program’s success and alignment with school values. Regular and predictable attendance at work is essential.

- Report any injury, hazard or illness immediately to their Supervisor and Human Resources.
- Not place others at risk by any act or omission, not willfully or recklessly interfere with safety equipment.
- Act as a role model by demonstrating safe work behaviors.
- Identify, assess if necessary, and control hazards within the area of responsibility.
- Ensure that equipment/supplies are properly maintained.
- Maintain relevant knowledge of safety laws.
- Mandatory reporting of sexual abuse to law enforcement or child protective services, and Human Resources. Sexual abuse includes child molestation, any actual or alleged illegal or otherwise wrongful sexual conduct with a minor, and serial sexual misconduct, any actual or alleged illegal or otherwise wrongful sexual conduct with more than one victim; and committed by or alleged to have been committed by any perpetrator who is not a student of an included entity.
