Position: Commercial Truck Driver Call In

Overview

Commercial Truck Driver. We are seeking a skilled and reliable Commercial Truck Driver to join our transportation team. As a key member of our organization, you will be responsible for safely operating commercial trucks across various routes, ensuring timely delivery of materials and equipment to diverse locations. This role requires a strong commitment to safety, excellent driving skills, and the ability to provide exceptional customer service.

Responsibilities
  • Operate commercial trucks safely across assigned island routes, including rural, steep grade, and limited-access locations
  • Perform pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections in compliance with FMCSA regulations
  • Pick up, transport, and deliver bins, materials, equipment, or freight to job sites, ports, quarries, transfer stations, and landfills
  • Verify weight limits, load securement, and proper tarp/covering procedures
  • Maintain logs, delivery documentation, scale tickets, and ELD entries (if applicable)
  • Communicate with dispatch regarding routing, delays, hazards, or changes in site conditions
  • Operate equipment such as hydraulic hoists, tarping systems, winches, and tie-down devices safely
  • Interact professionally with customers and represent the company positively at all times
Requirements
  • Valid Commercial Driver's License (CDL) with appropriate endorsements
  • Knowledge of FMCSA and Hawai?i DOT transportation regulations
  • Proficiency in safe operation of commercial trucks, including backing and maneuvering in tight spaces
  • Skill in load securement using straps, chains, binders, tarps, and other tie-down equipment
  • Ability to read and understand delivery instructions, scale tickets, and route maps
  • Strong communication, reliability, and customer service orientation
  • Physical ability to climb into/out of trucks, bend, kneel, reach, tarp, chain, and secure loads
  • Willingness to work outdoors in various weather conditions
  • Availability for overtime, early morning starts, weekends, and emergency response during storms or debris events
  • Compliance with DOT/FMCSA drug & alcohol testing requirements
  • Willingness to adhere to PPE requirements including safety vest, hard hat, gloves, and eye protection
  • TWIC card may be required for port access (company dependent)
  • Flexibility for potential inter-island travel based on operational needs
