Position Overview
Kupu’s Commercial and Food Truck Driver is responsible for the safe transportation, positioning, and relocation of Kupu’s mobile food truck to designated locations on Oʻahu. This position is utilized on an as-needed basis and may work only a few hours per assignment, depending on organizational needs. The Commercial and Food Truck Driver ensures the vehicle is operated safely, complies with all federal, state, local traffic regulations, and Kupu policies, procedures, and established practices.
The Commercial and Food Truck Driver completes pre- and post-trip inspections to identify any maintenance or safety concerns.
This position serves as an ambassador of Kupu by demonstrating aloha, professionalism, safe driving practices, and a commitment to protecting Kupu’s reputation, organizational assets and the public.

- Serve as a role model for Kupu’s culture, mission, and CHOSEN Values
- Safely operate and transport the organization's food truck between designated locations
- Perform vehicle relocation assignments as requested, which may include movement to events, maintenance facilities, storage locations, or other approved destinations
- Park and position the vehicle in accordance with site requirements and applicable safety standards
- Comply with all federal, state, county, and organizational driving policies
- Conduct pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections
- Verify that lights, brakes, tires, mirrors, fluids, and safety equipment are in proper working order before operating the vehicle
- Immediately report mechanical issues, accidents, damage, or safety concerns
- Maintain cleanliness and security of the vehicle while in use
- Maintain a valid driver's license appropriate for the vehicle being operated throughout employment
- Maintain an acceptable driving record that meets Kupu's vehicle insurance requirements
- Notify the supervisor immediately of any change in driving status, license restrictions, citations that may affect insurability, accidents while operating any vehicle for organizational business, or suspension/revocation of driving privileges
- Successfully complete Kupu's driver authorization process prior to operating organizational vehicles
- Comply with all organizational vehicle safety policies and applicable federal, state, and local transportation regulations at all times
- Complete required trip logs, inspection reports, mileage records, and other documentation as requested
- Report fuel usage and maintenance concerns promptly
- Coordinate vehicle pickup and delivery schedules with Operations staff
- Communicate arrival, delays, or unexpected issues in a timely manner
- Assist with coordinating vehicle servicing appointments when requested
- Provide limited assistance with preparing the food truck for transport or securing equipment before movement
- Perform other related duties consistent with the purpose of the position as assigned
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- Possess a valid Hawaiʻi driver's license appropriate for the vehicle being operated
- Possess a valid Commercial Driver License (CDL), if required based on the vehicle classification and applicable law(s)
- Clean driving record and ability to meet Kupu's driving abstract requirements
- Minimum of two (2) years of experience operating large commercial vehicles, box trucks, buses, RVs, food trucks, or similar vehicles
- Ability to safely maneuver large vehicles in urban environments, parking lots, and confined spaces
- Commitment to safe driving practices
- Strong time management skills
- Ability to work with limited supervision
- Ability to work an on-call schedule with advance notice whenever possible
- Successfully meet Kupu's criminal history background requirements
- Previous experience operating mobile food trucks or specialty commercial vehicles
