Open until filled. This is a Regular, full time Math Teaching position at Wy'east Middle School, and will begin with the 2026/27 school year in August.
Essential Job Functions- Advises parents and/or legal guardians of student progress to support teacher’s expectations and reinforce classroom goals.
- Assesses students to provide feedback to students, parents and administration regarding progress and goals.
- Assists other teachers to implement curriculum.
- Collaborates with school personnel, parents and community agencies to improve student outcomes and plan curriculum.
- Demonstrates methods required to perform assignments and skills for students’ safety and accuracy.
- Directs instructional assistants, volunteers or student aides to provide an effective program and meet student needs.
- Instructs students to improve academic success through a defined course of study.
- Monitors student activities to provide a safe environment.
- Maintains attendance to meet student needs and district expectations.
- Prepares teaching materials and reports for lesson plans and documentation of progress.
- Reports incidents to maintain safety and adhere to policies.
- Assists other personnel as required to support their work activities.
- Participates in meetings (parent conferences, in-service training, site meetings) to provide or receive information.
- Oregon Teaching License with a Mathematics endorsement qualifying for middle school mathematics; additional ESOL endorsement preferred.
Skills: motivates students, communicates with diverse groups, directs support personnel, evaluates performance. Bilingual English/Spanish skills preferred.
Knowledge: age-appropriate teaching methods, state curriculum framework, education code, instructional subjects.
Abilities: stand and walk for prolonged periods, perform specialized tasks, maintain records, build cooperative relationships, meet schedules, carry, lift, handle, talk, hear, visual acuity.
Preferred QualificationsPrior experience teaching middle school math; experience using differentiated instruction; experience with sheltered instruction; experience with AVID, PBIS, and MTSS; experience working with English Language Learners; bilingual English/Spanish preferred.
Testing and Background Check Required- Drug screening for illegal substances.
- Nationwide criminal history verification.
Salary range for 2025/26 school year: $59,112 to $99,834 (192-day contract). Salary schedule for 2026/27 school year is being negotiated.
